2019-02-20 Aly Guides me Through a Pottery Factory in Safi, Morocco

Aly is showing me his friends pottery 'factory' in Safi, Morocco. Safi is famous for their red clay laden earth. These factories excavate, clean and process the red clay; mold into products, cook, paint and glaze to create some beautiful products.

This is the painters chair. He's at lunch so Aly told me to sit and he took a photo of me.

These are bricks which are also produced here.

This is amazing, this is the oven. It's a high capacity pottery cooker.

That over there is the retired oven.

Here is some clay being processed. Not sure how they go about it. I suppose they pulverize it while it's dry and sift out pebbles, sand etc. Then add water and it's ready to mold and work.

A shaper, molding and creating clay products.

These are the lids for the little seasoning bowls.

Seasoning bowls and lids, kilned and coated ready to paint and re-kiln.

End of Tour. Now we head for Souira Kedima, Morocco.
